anna davies - about
Anna Davies decided to become a writer in the eighth grade when an acting teacher told her that, while her acting sort of sucked, her writing was way stronger. And that acting teacher was right! Although she still sings show tunes in the shower, Anna gave up the tap shoes for a laptop, and now, eight years later, covers everything from dating mishaps to travel, social trends to local finds in magazines and websites like Family Circle, Redbook, Page Six, New York, Jane Magazine, Seventeen, Nerve.com and Babble.com.
Anna got her start interning at no less than NINE different places during her undergrad career at Barnard College. Beyond academics (where she majored in English, creative writing concentration and minored in cat-sitting and party crashing) these internships, which included assisting three authors, interning at three magazines, and spending one long summer as a camp counselor on an island with no electricity, made her realize that she was a New York City girl at heart who was ready to begin bunnying up the publishing ladder in four-inch heels. When she graduated in 2005, she started her editorial career at Family Circle as an editorial assistant, before moving to Redbook to her current position as assistant editor. In her spare time, Anna acts as deputy city chapters director for Ed2010.com, trains for triathlons to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, takes pole-dance classes, and is always working on her novel. She lives on the Upper East Side but is contemplating a move to Brooklyn. Although she loves to write about anything, her favorite topics to write on recently have been Tori Spelling, trends in chick-lit, and what really goes down at a shooting range on singles night.
